GREEN

GREEN is the colour of Nature. Green signifies "HOPE" and that is the main reason for it being my favourite colour. Green also stands for harmony, balance, refreshment, universal love, rest, restoration, reassurance, environmental awareness, equilibrium, peace.

In both European and Chinese tradition, green is associated with spring and new growth. Green also represents the spirit and the fertility of nature. While to the Ancient Greeks it was the colour of Venus, the Goddess of Love. Islam also holds the colour green as sacred . In Christianity, St. John accredited Jesus Christ with a rich emerald green, which is also the colour of the Trinity.

Many people think that colour is just a matter of how things look .But i think colour is light - the source of life itself; there is nowhere that colour does not exist .It is Nature's own powerful signalling system. On a wider level, the colours of our environment affect our behaviour and mood. Science has always recognised the link between colour and mood/behaviour and there is scientific research into it.

This is an ancient palace that reside in a rural place. The beautiful snap tells everything about it. There are many similar abandoned palaces in Kerala that reminds us how we ignore oru traditon so easily.

It is one of my greatest wish that i could visit this palace. The nature seem so beautiful..

When i searched for green in flicker many pictures come to me. But i decided to include these two simply because they were awesome. I thought without including them my article won't be complete.

I like Green colour always. During school days we had 'Houses' and i was in Green house always. My liking for green started then. As years pass I became crazy for Green.Whenever i was asked to choose anything , invariably it'll be Green ,whether it is pen , pencil , dress or umberlla.

When I was reading the novel 'KITE RUNNER', I noted the importance of Green in Islam. In that novel it is said that the Islamic brides wear 'Green' because it is the colour of Hope for a new life. That novel gives a great importance to Green.

I searched for the link between Green and Islam in google. And find something interesting.

It is said that special significance originated from the critical role which an oasis played in the lives of the Arabs. Hence the colour which stood for an oasis must have been immortalized in their consciousness. For the desert nomads, a green peck of an oasis in the vast water-starved desert must have been synonymous with hope, survival and pleasure. It is also said that against the harsh and severe sun in the desert, green was soothing and gave a sense of coolness. Islam which became the religion of Arabs in the 6th century derives almost everything from their culture.Islamic folklore and beliefs are largely born out of the culture of the Arabs.

Green is the color of Islam. The prophet Muhammed wore a green turban. The color Green was his favorite color.Green is the color of the banners in the battlefield.Green is the color of the first Islamic flag. Most Islamic countries have the color Green as the most important color in their flags. The Holy Quran describes paradise as filled with Green."Will wear garments of green silk" Noble Quran 18:31. Green is the color of life fertility and renewal of the earth.Mosques are frequently decorated with Green tiles.

HOPE OUR LIVES WILL ALWAYS BE FILLED WITH GREEN!!

My Childhood Dream

The most happiest moments of my childhood are spent in this beautiful place - Kollam.

There is a saying in Malayalam..
"kollam kandavan illam venda
kochi kandavan achi venda"

meaning is that the one who visit Kollam won't go to his home again.. and those who visit Kochi will forget his wife.
Believe me people Kollam is such a wonderful place you'll be carried away by its pristine beauty.
This is Chinnakada which is at the entrance to Kollam town.

My Childhood Dream was nothing , but to spend my whole life in Kollam.I was brought up in Thiruvananthapuram as my parents are working here. I just disliked everything about this city. For me it was something like a jail . During Saturdays when i have no school , I was locked inside our house when my parents left for office. Being the only child ,I spent my childhood days all alone.

During vacation we'll go to Kollam my mother's place. And we stay there till the end of my vacation. I used to have unforgettable moments their with my cousins. We used to play a lot there. I was crazy about playing with sand. My favourite game was "appam vaa puttu vaa" . We used to make appam with sand mixing in water. Then" hide and seek".And many other games of which i don;t know the names.
The main attraction of going to Kollam was the beach near the house.Every evening my uncle takes me and my cousins to beach. We used to play in the water as much we want. I keep looking at the Sea for hours. The Sea is so deep that we'll never be fed up with it.The beautiful sunsets made the evenings so divine.

The first word that came to mind when i think about the Sea is Deep.
The Sea can be compared with human mind. I find so many attributes common to both. Both of them are deep and unpredictable.
